Homemade Organic Dog Treats

Hey y’all!

I’ve seen so many posts about how dog treats at the grocery store are bad for your four-legged friend and how factory parts slip into some of the treats and kill your furry family member!Processed with VSCO with g3 preset

Naturally, as a mom, you worry about your kiddos. (Legs are just a number!) So, I decided to take it upon myself and make something organic and yummy that my little Penelope would enjoy. Now granted, she will eat garbage, clothing, toilet water…so pleasing her with something actually delicious and edible will be a no brainer.

Lets get started!

You will need:

2-1/2 c                Whole Wheat Flour     (Sub Rice Flour or Coconut Flour for wheat allergy)

1 c                       Oats

1 tsp                   Baking Powder

1 c                       Peanut butter

1 c                       Water

1-1/2 tbsp          Agave         (Sub 2 tbsp honey)

1                           Egg

1                           Rolling Pin

1                           Mixer

1                           Cookie Cutter

Let’s Get Cookin:

Step 1:

Start by adding your dry ingredients into a bowl and evenly mix.

Step 2:

Add peanut butter, water, agave, and egg into the bowl and use mixer. The substance will become dough-like.

Step 3:

Form dough with your hands into a ball. Add flour to your baking surface and begin to roll out dough to 1/2 an inch thick.

Step 4:

Use cookie cutter to cut out shape.

*Optional: Use a toothpick to poke a hole in the center for decoration

Step 5:

Preheat oven to 350º F, place cookies on non-stick baking sheet, and pop them in the oven for 20-30 minutes depending how big your cookies are.

*Note: I used the end of a piping bag tip to create small circular cookies so I could use them as training treat. You can use a bone shaped one or anything you have at home to cut out the dough!

Pene sure does love them! I hope you guys do too! They are edible but a little dry so don’t worry if you think it doesn’t have much flavor. I’ve shared them with two of my friends dogs and they can’t get enough.

Please comment/share/like below! I’d love to hear your feedback.
