Solvang, California

There’s the cutest little Dutch town located right here in SoCal! The cool thing about California is everything is relatively close. You don’t have to travel too far to stumble upon a new city.

Solvang is two hours north of Los Angeles. You can take the scenic route up the 101 through Santa Barbra and get pretty views of the ocean and marina.

It’s very touristy but there is enough parking. We even went on the weekend and didn’t have too much trouble finding a spot and didn’t have to wait in lines. We were really hungry when we arrived so we immediately ate lunch at The Red Viking Restaurant. Honestly, you can walk down any street and every block has bakeries, restaurants, and wine tastings galore! We were overwhelmed so that was the first place we stopped. It was pretty good. They have authentic Danish food and it felt really homey.

My favorite part of the whole trip was all of the wine tastings! With over 20 different tasting rooms, you’re sure to find something that compliments your palette! They are priced differently, but the ones we went to ranged between $14-$20 per person. You get a souvenir glass that’s included in the price as well! There is so much to do in Solvang; Museums, shopping, wine tasting, festivals, theater plays and more! You can even buy your very own pair of clogs!

We finished the day at a brewery and then headed to Santa Barbra. Might as well kill two birds with one stone.* It was a quick 45 minute drive up the 101 from Solvang to Santa Barbra, which I might add, is the prettiest beach town! My roommate and I had dinner and watched the sunset then headed home.
